Greensboro Power Squadron (GPS) is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2009. Originating in 1974 with 47 members, GPS has grown to a membership of over 150. Our membership includes husbands, wives and children.
Cruising: At least once a year GPS has a cruise. It might be to Charleston, New Bern, Oriental, Wilmington, Norfolk or Myrtle Beach.

Civic Service: The third weekend in September every year will find members at Carolina Marina on Belews Lake. This is the day for Operation Big Sweep. Members with boats on the lake and members bringing trailer boats depart the marina and pick up trash around the lake's edge. Last year squadron members collected approximately two thousand pounds of trash.

Change of Watch: The Squadron holds its annual Change Of Watch (COW) at the end of each year. This is the changing of the Bridge. The Bridge that has been on watch is relieved and the new Bridge is sworn in. This is a very special event for GPS. Past Commanders, members and their guests attend.
