Rules and Procedures

This is only a portion of the Greensboro Community Television Rules and Procedures. It is a summary of some key points. For a complete copy, please come by our station.

The rules and procedures by which Cable 8 operates were developed to ensure the maximum convenience and fairness for all of our access producers. Every effort is made to insure that they are applied in a consistent manner. Questions or comments about the rules and procedures should be discussed with the Executive Director.

Access services and facilities provided and or managed by Greensboro Community Television are available to Guilford County residents.

All programs submitted for cablecast must be on DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW. No other formats are accepted.

All programs produced by Cable 8 Members with Cable 8 equipment or facilities must be shown on Cable 8.

Certification for equipment use is issued after completing each training course, and/or demonstrating competency in the use of Cable 8 equipment. Any person not using the Cable 8 equipment for a 12 month period or longer will have to be re-certified by demonstrating their competency in the operation of Cable 8 equipment.

Equipment and facility reservations will be accepted up to 30 days in advance on a first-come, first-served non-discriminatory basis. All reservations must be made through a Cable 8 Staff member.

Cable 8 shall not exercise control over program content in any manner. Anyone who produces programming using Cable 8 equipment or facilities, or who produces programming with other sources of equipment, is wholly responsible for the program's content and legal considerations as described in the Cablecast Request Form.

Producers may request specific times for cablecast on the Cablecast Request Form. However, the time scheduling of any program is entirely at the discretion of the Cable 8 Staff.

Each program--series or single--may be repeated once. Further scheduling is at the sole discretion of Cable 8, based on the availability of time slots; and the need to avoid monopolization or over-utilization of the channel.

All messages for the Community Bulletin Board (CBB), and all programs to be aired on Cable 8, must be non-commercial in nature.

Cable 8 users and members must not represent themselves as employees of Cable 8, or as having the authority to speak for Cable 8, it's Staff, Board of Directors or Associates.
